Time to first review
Speed & flow
What it measures
Weekly p50 and p90 of the time from a PR becoming review-ready to its first human review, in hours. PRs that never got a review are excluded.
Why it matters
First-review latency is the most visible form of waiting. Long waits stall authors, encourage bigger batches, and quietly inflate cycle time.
How to read it
- p50 is the typical wait; p90 is the bad-day wait — watch the gap between them.
- Bot reviews never count as a first review, so this reflects real human attention.
Anti-blame
Measured per PR and aggregated for the team. It never identifies who reviewed or who waited.
Common misreads
A fast first review is not the same as a thorough one — pair this with quality signals.
